In today’s video, we’re going to talk about an extension from Curic that allows you to quickly align objects inside your SketchUp model. This can be a massive time saver when working with many different objects that need to be aligned quickly.

As you probably know, SketchUp currently does not have a built-in align tool. However, this extension provides a fairly comprehensive solution for aligning objects inside of SketchUp quickly.

The way it works is fairly simple – just select the objects you’d like to align, then activate the tool. It will then give you a bounding box around the object with a number of different options.

This box is very helpful in aligning objects. You can use the edge of the box, which is sized based on the objects you’ve selected, as well as the center points of box.

This can also be used to align different shaped objects. For example – aligning the center point of all these objects could be fairly difficult, but with this tool, it’s fairly easy. Note that this tool is using the center point of the entire bounds of your object.

You can also align objects with faces outside your selection by holding the shift key and clicking on a face. For example – you could use this to align the front bodies of these cars to these parking stops, then to the ground plane below in two clicks just by holding the shift key

There’s also a function for making copies when you hold the shift key – just tap the control key to turn on copy mode (while holding the shift key down), and Curic align will create copies of your selected objects aligned with the point you select.
