Short Intro
This week’s extension allows you to quickly create lattices in SketchUp!
Plugin Name: Lattice Maker
Plugin Developer: Tig
How Much does it cost? Free! (Please donate to your developer – link at the download page)
Where do you get it?
You can download it from the SketchUcation store by searching for “Lattice maker,” or by clicking the link in the notes below.
Tool Functions
This tool is designed to take a series of faces and offset and extrude them to create a lattice.
Basically, the way it works, is you select an object, go to the menu above and select “Lattice Maker.”
The tool contains several different options. You can select the width of the offset on the face, as well as the depth of the extrusion.
In addition, the extension allows you to keep a face in the middle of your extrusion if you’d like. It allows you to set how face this “pane” is inset, as well as the thickness of the pane created.
You can also set the material of the pane that’s created, allowing for some interesting glass shapes.
It doesn’t matter if geometry is hidden or not, the extension will take the individual faces of an object and offset them, so you have to be careful how you model an object sometimes to get the result you’re looking for.
With some creativity, you can create some really interesting shapes quickly using this extension!
That’s where we’re going to wrap up this plugin overview. If you liked this video, click that like button down below. If you’re new, click that subscribe button for more SketchUp videos every week.
As always, leave a comment below and let me know if you’re using this tool and how.

I quickly realized the power of the software and started using it for personal projects. I started The SketchUp Essentials as a place to share easy to follow SketchUp tutorials and tips to help everyone harness the power of 3D Modeling in their lives. When not working with SketchUp, I enjoy playing soccer and spending time with my wife and our two dogs.
